1x Vinyl LP Album Reissue

For a brief moment in time, in the late sixties, the Sacred Mushroom were the hottest act in Cincinnati, Ohio. They sold out bars and clubs with their astonishing live act, but sadly failed to sell through on record

The Sacred Mushroom were a bluesy rock/psych combo from Ohio formed by brothers Larry and Tim Goshorn. They lived in a small commune in Cincinnati and were known collectively as the “Mushroom People”, sheltered from what they termed “the rich-blundering-narrow-minded-owner-of-the-non-essential-producing-factory.”

They recorded a single in 1966 for the Nashville-based Minaret Records. It received enough local airplay to garner the interest of the New York underground Parrallax label who released their debut, and only, album The Sacred Mushroom in 1966. Shortly after, the group disbanded leaving behind a small but rich music legacy reissued here, with reverence, over 50 years on.

“This album is dedicated to the Mushroom House that is no more. To the days and people who made it and didn’t. To the past that’s only a picture. A time warp is a strange concept; it captures the future or the past, but it, as we, always remains in the present.” From the original album back cover.
