Brazilian drummer Milton Banana (born Antônio de Souza on April 23, 1935; he died on May 22, 1998) practically invented the Bossa Nova drumming style.
Presented here are two of his best albums as a leader, The Rhythm and the Sound of Bossa Nova (Audio Fidelity AFSD 5984), on which he is backed by the Oscar Castro Neves group, and Balançando com Milton Banana Trio (Odeon SMOFB 3466), which finds him fronting his own trio.
