Moondog
H'art Songs
Outsider legend Moondog's H'art Songs from 1977 marks a rare vocal outing from the eccentric composer that shows he had genius beyond instrumentals. Recorded in his sixties, the ten tracks blend his classical precision with pop accessibility and plenty of signature wordplay that is poetic, political and autobiographical. The simple vocals are designed for unison singing and contrast with intricate piano harmonies that show off his unique compositional approach. This first vinyl reissue since 1978 includes an inner sleeve with lyrics and Moondog's own liner notes. H'art Songs is one of the more accessible works in the Moondog canon while retaining the artist's mesmerising originality.
