The Musical Players
The Chemist, The Preacher And The Musical Players
Mind-blowing genuine acid-folk monster originally pressed in 1972 in an edition of around 10(!) copies, the Musical Players were a loose collection of musicians gathered together by Keith Ripley and Keith Washington. Heavily fond of dropping acid in the countryside, the very title of this album references Timothy Leary and Augustus Owsley Stanley III. Across eleven tracks the band conduct a series of woodland rites featuring electric guitar, sitar and violin amongst many others to create a potent brew that occasionally bubbles over into darkness with fuzz guitars emerging through the cauldron smoke. Strongly influenced by the Incredible String Band and Tyrannosaurus Rex, this is for lovers of ley lines, tarot cards, windowpane acid and elderflower wine. Harvest time.
