Second Nature
Nothing To Sing
BCLP 017 Second Nature-Nothing to Sing
Previously unknown underground blues rock from 1970, recovered from a 30-copy only private-press LP on the legendary Sky label (the forerunner to SRT). Sounding exactly like a lost Blue Horizon session, Second Nature sit comfortably alongside the likes of Fleetwood Mac and Chicken Shack, their sound rippling with echoes of Savoy Brown and the Groundhogs. Originating from Harrow in the North West of London, the band are driven by a brilliant lead guitarist who delivers lyrical, incisive riffs and soaring solos, all drenched in a glorious vintage tone. With all but one track self-penned, the album showcases a supremely confident group of musicians, captured in remarkable fidelity at Sky Studios in Bedfordshire. Blues Rock was vital in shaping the British underground scene of the late ’60s and early ’70s, so crack open a Watney’s Party Seven, spark up a Number 6, and disappear into the music.
