Yami Bolo
Jah Made Them All
Rockers International (none)
Onlyroots Records (ORLP31)
Release date: Jan 1, 2025
Yamie Bolo’s second LP, Jah Made Them All, came out via Greensleeves in the UK and Rockers International in Jamaica, and it really reflects that early stage of his career. It wasn’t built as a concept album from scratch. Instead, it pulls together singles a teenage Bolo had been releasing in the years before, shaping them into a 10-track roots Showcase set – vocal cuts followed by their dub companions.
Recorded at Channel One, Music Works, and Creative Sound, and produced by Augustus Pablo, the sound stays deep but never heavy-handed. Tracks like Jah Made Them All, Reggae Ambassador, Tell Me Why Is This Fussing And Fighting, and Poverty & Brutality capture Bolo at his most sincere, still young but already grounded in message and spirit. Now, 35 years later, the album finds its way back to vinyl. Only Roots out of France has brought it back to wax, giving reggae vinyl junkies who missed it back then the chance to spin this quietly powerful LP.
