Crazy Joe Records (none)
Joe Gibbs Record Globe (none)
Release date: Jan 1, 1970
At the time of this albums original release in 1977 deejay Trinity was, alongside his pal Dillinger and Ranking Trevor at the height of his powers and popularity. Three Piece Suit with its excellent and amusing cover art and its heavy dubwise production from Joe Gibbs and the genius Errol ‘ET’ Thompson remains an entertaining listen all these years later with the gifted riddim rider jockeying a selection of wicked Gibbs riddims in fine style. His efforts on tracks like Song Of The Midnight Hour (Java), Queen Majesty, Render Your Heart (on Junior Byles’ Heart & Soul), Mohammed Ali (Joe Frazier) and Rasta Dub (Keep On Moving) full of urgency and pungent downtown Kingston vibes. Then there’s the title track over the I’m Still In Love With You Boy riddim, the springboard from which Gibbs scored an international hit with Althea & Donna’s Uptown Top Ranking.
